The theatre was empty; the air was thick with silence. The large empty stage lay before her, holding the pleasures of anything her heart desired. The only thing Diamond had desired at the moment was just to do what she did to release her stress; Play music. She sighed as she stood before the stage, taking in is vastness. She leaned forward to rest her elbows on the worn wooden flooring and let in a sigh. She lay there, undisturbed by no one and she enjoyed the final peaceful moments she had achieved since she had come back. She recoiled from the stage and slowly drifted her way around the side door entrance. She opened the door, and the hallway leading in lead the backroom for the stage. The three spotlights we all pointed towards center stage. They waited for someone to take the presence, to take the spotlight for their own. Diamond soon peeked out from the curtains that covered the stage door, and she had in her hand a larger stool, and set it down in the middle of the three lights. She returned backstage to retrieve the actual star of the whole show. In a hard wood case on the small table backstage it waited for its chance to be taken out once again. She slowly ran the zipper the opposite way, and the case unzipped. She lifted up the head of the case, which is when that familiar dusty-old-guitar smell arose. She carefully grasped the neck of the guitar, and placed her over hand under it and lifted it from its coffin. She admired how well of a condition it was in, even through all the hard years she had used it. She took her time traveling back to the laid out stool, she didn’t want any harm to come to the majestic instrument of hers. She slowly lifted herself to sit on the small stool, on foot rested on the ground while another hovered slightly over, never making contact with the wood floor. She lifted the guitar strap over her head, and let the guitar sit on her one knee as she draped one hand, almost touching the strings with the pick that was grasped tightly between her thumb and another finger. Her fingers slowly dropped downward as the soft sounds of each string were heard. Even if the sounds were out of tune, the stings noise still sent shivers down her spine. She plucked each string separately as she occasionally turned the tuning pegs at the top to correct the sounds of the string.
When finally as the sounds of he strings were to her liking, she readied herself to begin her song. She took in a small breath as she placed her fingers into place. Her first note started very clear and crisp, she loved how the first note sounds of her song, and it was her favorite section of the whole song. As she played the small intro there was, her voice came, small and soft at first, but it only grew with intensity as the song went on. The words for “Jar of Hearts” flowed out of her mouth so eloquently. She could sing that song in her sleep. As she came near to the end the last note was the only note that had been nagging her mind. She could never seem to extend her finger far enough to reach it. But with all her practice came succession. The last note she played, loud and proud that she had achieved it. Her mind seemed to have gone elsewhere, for she didn’t not put her hands across the string to silence their vibrations. She let them ring out in the hollow auditorium.

NOAH WAS ONLY PASSING THE THEATRE WHEN HE HEARD IT. A PRETTY VOICE, CLEARLY NOT PROFESSIONAL, BUT PRETTY. CLEAR. PRACTICED. BUT BEYOND THAT WAS THE SOFT STRINGS OF AN ACOUSTIC GUITAR. THOSE WERE HIS FAVORITE. HE HAD PLAYED THE GUITAR UNTIL HIS TWELFTH BIRTHDAY. THAT'S WHEN HE GOT HIS DRUMSET. THEN HE DIDN'T GET ANYTHING FOR HIS THIRTEENTH BIRTHDAY. THEN HE STARTED TO STAY AT ANDROMEDA PREP. AFTER THREE YEARS HERE, HE KNEW THE PRESENTS STOPPED COMING. MAYBE THEY WOULD NEVER COME AGAIN. BUT HE HAD HIS DRUMSET, AND HE WAS SURE SOMEWHERE IN A DUSTY CORNER, HE HAD HIS GUITAR. HE WAS ABOUT TO PASS THE THEATRE, MAKE SURE THE GIRL WASN'T EMBARASSED. BUT THE SOFT STRUMS OF THE GUITAR REELED HIM BACK IN. HE DEBATED OVER ENTERING THROUGH THE MAIN ENTRANCE, BUT HE DIDN'T WANT HER TO GET NERVOUS AND STOP HER SONG, SO HE SKIRTED THE BUILDING. IT HAD BEGAN TO RAIN, SO HE PULLED HIS JACKET TIGHTER AROUND HIM. THE BACK ENTRANCE WAS VERY NEAR TO THE WOODS, AND IT GAVE HIM SHELTER ENOUGH TO TAKE OFF HIS JACKET AS HE PULLED OPEN THE DOOR, TRYING TO STAY QUIET FOR THE MOST PART. THE DARKNESS OF BACKSTAGE WAS SLIGHTLY OVERWHELMING, BUT HE COULD HEAR THE NOTES CLEARLY AND PERFECTLY. IT WAS A SONG HE HAD HEARD FREQUENTLY, BUT IT DEFINITELY WASN'T ON HIS IPOD. 'JAR OF HEARTS' HAD NO ROOM IN THERE. HE TIGHTENED IN PREPARATION FOR THE LAST NOTE. IT WAS ALWAYS DIFFICULT TO MAINTAIN AN ENDING LIKE THAT. HE WAS CROSS LEGGED ON THE FLOOR WHEN HE HEARD HER STOP PLAYING. HE LIFTED HIMSELF, AND ABSENT-MINDEDLY BEGAN TO CLAP. DAMN, HE THOUGHT, REMEMBERING THAT HE WAS HIDING.

All that Diamond could hear throughout was the sound her, herself, and well.. her. She paid little attention to anything else around her usually, focusing on the project at hand. She wasn’t a very good multi tasker, so she would have to concentrate on one subject of thought at a time, so she didn’t screw up because she wasn’t able to juggle two thoughts at the same time. So when someone had slipped into the auditorium with her, she hadn’t noticed at all, because she was so focused on her music, nothing else really mattered at the moment.
Diamond played like, when people would always say ‘Dance like nobody’s watching.’ Diamond did that except she wasn’t dancing, she was playing music. She loved the feeling of when her hand flew across the string, pick a hand, and she produced music. Touch the steel strings still brought shivers to her. And the magnificence of the musical instrument that she held still amazed her, even after all those years. It was just that rush, that sense of accomplishment that she always loved to achieve when she was done.
And without a doubt when she had finished, that familiar feeling that was always enjoyed by her returned. It was the tingly feeling that you’d get in your finger tips, or in your toes. Similar to the butterflies you get in your stomach, but at the same time the feeling was worldly different. She just couldn’t explain it, it was a feeling you’d have to experience before you would even begin to understand.
Diamond head quickly rose to meet the sound of someone’s voice, and her nerves jack rabbited, as her eyes darted to find the source her nerves then fell after she spotted his movements on the floor. Even though she could barely make it out with looking out in the direction of a stage light, she could still tell he was there. His comments made a smile come for her face a moment, she hadn’t heard anyone comment on her playing, or singing, in such a long time. The shy smile hid away quickly,”Oh, I’m so sorry” she apologized even though there was really no reason to. ”I didn’t know anyone was in here.” Her shy words came out and her hands silenced her instrument and she began to bite the corner of her lip slightly.
